Ran across this picture from BBC’s pictures of the day and the caption read –” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad seems unconcerned when a woman feints after meeting him at a polling station in Tehran while voting in the second round of the parliamentary elections.” I just went OH MY GOD!! Can u just feel how detached these “leaders” are in this photo? See the third man in dark suit just FOLDING his arms in such an emergency. U begin to wonder, how do these people manage do delude themselves that they can inspire anything but monsters like themselves?
What happened to LOVING? CARING? REACHING OUT TO THE HEARTS of people you aspire to lead? In other words, HOW CAN YOU GET THEIR PERMISSION TO LEAD THEM AND THEIR LOYALTY if you can stand so detached while they or one of their own almost dies? Take repression and strong-arm politics away and I can tell u, megalomaniacs like these will eventually get it – in the behind!!
Cultural differences my friend. We all get carried away by western influences that we forget that there are some culture who do not believe in overt emotions.
Does the ongoing saga in the Anglican church over marriage of gay clergymen not amaze you? I know my example is a bit extreme but that is what happens when you buy into a way of thinking and behaviour that is without restraint ….there have been many names for this to make it more palatable but ..each to his own I say and God for us all
I respect the right of other cultures to be different. I am not western but in a world where people are looking for meaningful leadership, being emotionally detached might be acceptable but will never what people are willing to die for. In short, good leadership in my opinion is done through emotions.
To give u an analogy from movies. Watch Startrek Voyager … Tuvoc might make a sufficient leader in some situations but he will never be able to inspire people and get them to forget their individual agendas in support of the common mission.
